There is so much that is said about the city of Los Altos, California that you may be tempted to move to this place. The city has a lot to offer, but before moving, we have a number of things that you need to know, most of which explain why this is one of the best places to live in. Los Altos is in Santa Clara County and has a population of slightly over 30,000. This is one of the places with diverse ethnicities.

Brief History of Los Altos

The city of Los Altos was discovered by a famous Spanish explorer, Juan Bautista de Anza, who led a voyage in 1776. He was on his way to explore the Bay of San Francisco, when you discovered this area. This city was incorporated in 1952 and the early development is credited to Paul Schoup. Can you imagine that in 1911, there were only 50 residential homes? Today, the story is totally different as the city has so many business centers and residential homes.

Cost of Living

Los Altos is in strategically located and has access to most of cities and towns that are in the San Jose metropolitan area. It lies 12 miles west of San Jose and 1 mile west of Mountain View. The median income is about $175,938, which the median home value is about $1.8 million. This is considered to be one of the most affordable cities that you can live in, and get access to all the amazing facilities and amenities.

Key Attraction around Los Altos

Whether you move to the city for good or come for a short visit, there are so many attractions that you will enjoy. Most of the attractions are nearby and you do not have to very far from the city. Some of the key attractions include:

  • Lincoln Park

The city has great opportunities and avenues for fun and recreation. This is one of the cities that have scenic parks that allow people to engage in a number of outdoor activities like picnics, playing soccer, jogging, cycling and nature trails among others. There are museums and other interesting history centers.

The Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International is the main transportation serving Los Altos. The De Anza College is the institution for higher education in the city.
